Common use

Tiova Rotacap is an anticholinergic medicine used to manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It contains Tiotropium, which works by relaxing and widening the airways, making it easier to breathe and relieving symptoms like chest tightness, wheezing, and shortness of breath.

Dosage and direction

Inhale the contents of rotacap using the provided rotacap device. Do not swallow the rotacaps; they are intended for inhalation only. Store the rotacaps in their original package and remove only immediately before use. If you have any questions about how to use this medicine, consult your doctor.

Precautions

Narrow-Angle Glaucoma: If you have this eye condition, Tiova Rotacap may worsen your symptoms.
Prostatic Hyperplasia or Bladder Neck Obstruction: This medicine should be used with care as it could exacerbate symptoms in people with these conditions.
Renal Impairment: Patients with moderate to severe kidney issues should be monitored closely for side effects when using this medication.

Contraindications

Tiova Rotacap is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to tiotropium or any of its ingredients. It should also be avoided by patients with a known hypersensitivity to atropine.

Possible side effect

Tiova Rotacap may have the following common side effects: Dry mouth; Sinusitis; Pharyngitis; Non-specific chest pain; Urinary tract infection; Dyspepsia: This refers to indigestion, which might make you feel full sooner than normal or experience discomfort in your upper abdomen; Rhinitis.

Drug interaction

Anticholinergic Medicines: If you're taking other anticholinergic medications, such as ipratropium or oxitropium, the combined effect could increase side effects like dry mouth or blurry vision.
Beta-2 Agonists: Albuterol and salmeterol often used together with Tiova Rotacap in COPD and asthma treatment, may increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects, such as palpitations or increased heart rate, especially if used at higher doses.
Diuretics (e.g., furosemide): Diuretic use may increase the risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, potentially exacerbating the effects of tiotropium.

Missed dose

If you forget to take your Tiova Rotacap at the scheduled time, inhale it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor first.

Overdose

If you accidentally inhale too much of Tiova Rotacap, you may experience symptoms like dry mouth and blurred vision. Don't panic; inform your doctor about it. Avoid situations that might lead to overdosing.

Storage

Store Tiova Rotacap in a cool, dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C. Shield it from direct sunlight and excessive heat. It's crucial to keep this medicine out of reach and sight of children. Remember to utilise the medication before its expiry date.
